Reduce Leakage of Trade to Other Businesses

1. Give customers a point for every £1 they spend.
2. Allow them to 'save up' points to be used at a later date.

Customers enjoy building up points and being rewarded, so will tend to visit businesses that allow them to build up points, rather than a competitor.

Increase Spending Per Visit

1. Instead of '1 point per £1', give 1 point for every £5 spent.
2. Allow customers to either save up points or be given a voucher.

Motivates customers to make small additional purchases to ensure they earn their reward points.

Motivate Customers to Visit More Frequently

1. Give customers a point for every £1 they spend.
2. Give a £5 or £10 voucher worth once customers have got 'x' points.
3. Ensure the voucher has an expiry date.

The expiry date will motivate customers to come back, since the voucher is 'real money' to that customer.

Surprise and Delight Your Customers - at Zero Cost

1. Offer higher value stock as an alternative to vouchers.

This technique can be used selectively, as products reach their sell-by date.

Use this technique if your business has perishable goods that need to be disposed of, or a product line you want to clear quickly.

Customers view this as an immensely generous reward, and more will consider buying that particular product than did before.
